Biography

Pianist Alice Zhang has been a guest soloist with multiple orchestras, collaborated with the Grammy Award-winning Takács Quartet, and given solo and collaborative recitals in schools, hospitals, and assisted living homes. A prizewinner of several international competitions, she was most recently awarded the Audience Favorite at the 2024 Seattle International Piano Competition. She is currently completing a combined undergraduate and master’s degree program in piano performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying under Antonio Pompa-Baldi.

 

Alice has also participated in important summer music festivals, most recently as a solo piano fellow at the Music Academy of the West in 2024, and Domaine Forget in 2023, where she received the Stepping Stone scholarship. She has also twice been invited to attend the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival. Past mentors from these programs include prominent pianists and teachers such as Jeremy Denk, Conor Hanick, Henry Kramer, and Charles Richard-Hamelin.

 

In addition to her solo playing, Alice is a devoted chamber musician and takes immense joy in collaborating with others. She was a finalist at the 2023 Coltman Chamber Music Competition, and is an active performer in outreach concerts and various recital series in her communities. In all aspects of her musical journey, Alice is committed to building meaningful connections with her colleagues and audiences, continuously evolving as an artist, and prioritizing sensitivity in her performances.
